Jacques and Sam have a love relationship with Portugal and Mozambique. They have frequently visited these countries and Jacques did a cooking course in Porto in Portugal. This gave birth to their Portuguese-inspired menu. Garlic and chili are omnipresent, and the dishes are laced with paprika, bay leaves, white wine and herbs and spices. The flavours are big, bold and powerful.

Enjoy your meal inside the old manor house, surrounded by fascinating objects and art collected by Jacques and Sam on their travels. In winter a roaring fire keeps you warm as toast.

In summer the pool courtyard is a favourite for sitting under the shade of the huge old Wit Karee tree. This is also the venue for live music performances, often local jazz and blues on a balmy evening.

Red Tin Roof is fully licensed and especially proud of the extensive wine list, offering the best of local winemakers.

The wines of the Swartland are fast becoming a national and international phenomenon. With nicknames such as “Baby Jesus”, “Elvis” and “Harry Potter”, the region’s winemakers are gaining cult status.

A panel of 29 distinguised local and international wine writers and sommeliers recently selected South Africa’s top 20 wineries. Not only do three out of the top 20 hail from the Swartland, but numbers one and two (Mullineux and Sadie) are natives of the region.
